Products Description: Clearco Pure Silicone Damping Fluids are hydrophobic, clear, colorless and odorless linear 100% polydimethylsiloxane (CAS # 63148-62-9) fluids that range in viscosity from 0.65cSt to 20,000,000 (20 million) cSt.

Pure Silicone Damping Fluids are used in pressure gauges, level controllers, rotary dampers, temperature and process recorders, control valves, calibration equipment, flow meters, thermostats, dashpots, aviation equipment, and aviation gyroscopes, to dampen vibration, dampen pulsation, dampen torque.

Pure Silicione Damping Fluids >5cSt are characterized by their their wide service temperature range, high resistance to oxidation, high damping action, excellent lubricity, compatibility with virtually all o-rings, little viscosity change at extreme temperatures, and high dielectric strength.

They can be used in the most extreme environments where high rates of vibration and pulsation are encountered. Due to their wide service temperature range, they can be used at extremely low and high temperatures. A properly selected silicone fluid can signifcantly extend the service life of equipment and provide more accurate reading in doing so.

Phenylmethyl Silicone Damping Fluids provide higher thermal stability and wider service temperature ranges than standard Pure Silicone Damping Fluids (Polydimethylsiloxane).

PM-Damping Fluids are used in pressure gauges, level controllers, rotary dampers, temperature and process recorders, control valves, calibration equipment, flow meters, thermostats, dashpots, aviation equipment, and aviation gyroscopes, to dampen vibration, dampen pulsation, dampen torque.

PM-50, PM-500 & PM-30,000 Silicone Damping Fluids

Chemical Name: Phenylmethylsiloxane [Phenylmethyl-Dimethylsiloxane]

CAS No: 63148-52-7

Viscosities: 50cSt, 500cSt & 30,000cSt

Federal Spec met: VV-D-1078 "Silicone as Damping Fluid"

Product Equivalent: Dow Corning® 510, 50cs, Dow Corning® 510, 500cs, Dow Corning® 510, 30,000cs

Use: PM-50, PM-500 & PM-30,000 Silicone Damping Fluids, are low content phenylmethyl silicones [CAS No. 63148-52-7] (phenylmethylsiloxane) that are formulated for wide range thermal stability. Their phenylmethyl content is between 8 to 12%. These fluids are clear, colorless and odorless. PM Fluids are characterized by their low pour points (- 70°C), high thermal stabily > 200°C, low V.T.C. (viscosity-to –temperature coefficients), wide service temperature range, high damping action (meets VV-D-1078 "Silicone as damping fluid"), high dielectric strength, excellent lubricity and inertness to virtually all substrates.

PM Silicone Damping Fluids meet federal specification VV-D-1078 "Silicone as Damping Fluid". They are used in a wide range of military and industrial liquid filled gauges, level controllers, rotary dampers, temperature and process recorders, control valves, calibration equipment, flow meters, thermostats, dashpots, monitoring systems, avionic gauges and aviation instruments to dampen vibration, dampen pulsation, and dampen torque.

PM-50, 500 & 30,000 Silicone Damping Fluids are particularly effective for use in instruments and gauge that will operate in a wide service temperature range (-70°C to >200°C). They offer significantly higher thermal stability than polydimethylsiloxane fluids. In addition, they also provide excellent low temperature stability and viscosity will not increase significantly even at extremely low temps. They are widely used as dampers for avionic applications where extremely low temperatures are experienced.

PM Silicone Damping Fluids are hydrophobic and prevent humidity from entering the gauge/instrument housing. This is very important. At low temperatures, water condensation can freeze and cause damage to the sensitive parts within the gauge/instrument housing. Ultimately, PM Silicone Damping Fluids will extend the service life of the equipment that it fills and provide more accurate readings even in the harshest of conditions.

Properties:

  • Dampen vibration in gauges, instruments, meters and avionic instruments
  • Protects internal components against vibration, freezing and corrosion.
  • Extends service life of gauges, instruments, meters and avionic instruments.
  • Wide service temperature range
  • Low viscosity change at temperature (low V.T.C.)
  • Inert to virtually all o-rings, gaskets, seals and valves *
  • High Dielectric Strength
  • Widely used for avionic damping applications

*not recommended for silicone rubber due to possibility of swelling
