Low Temperature Pure Silicone Bath Fluids are low-viscosity linear 100% Polydimethylsiloxane fluids that are formulated for Low Temperature Baths and Low Temperature Heat Transfer Applications. Low Temperature Pure Silicone Bath Fluids are clear, colorless, odorless, and inert to virtually all bath instruments and plastics.
Low Temperature Silicone Bath Fluids encompass a viscosity range from 2cSt to 20cSt* (measures @ 25°C). Due to their low flash points and high rates of volatility, viscosities below 5cSt are not recommended for thermal applications above ambient temperatures in open systems. High rates of evaporation will require frequent replenishment.
Low Temperature Silicone Bath Fluids have low viscosity-temperature coefficients (VTC), and will experience little viscosity increase even at extremely low temperatures. The Viscosity-temperature coefficient or VTC is a measure of viscosity @99°C ÷viscosity @ 38°C. Thus, the lower the VTC #, the lower the viscosity changes. This is critical for baths that have pumping systems that cannot operate with higher viscosity fluids. For the lowest temperature stability, we recommend the PSF-2cSt.
