Products Description: Clearco Phenylmethyl fluids are phenyl-based silicones that are formulated for applications where Dimethyl silicones (polydimethylsiloxane) will not remain stable. These fluids are described as aromatic siloxanes due to the presence of phenyl groups. High phenyl content fluids (PM-125 & PPM-500) are utilized as heat exchange fluids, dielectric coolants, and base oils for high temperature fluids. Low phenyl content fluids (PM-50 & PM-500) can be utilized for similar applications, but are also be used at lower temperatures than higher phenyl content fluids. Applications for Low phenyl content fluids include wide temperature range baths, low temperature baths, and fluids for sensitive timing and calibration devices.

Phenyl-based silicones replace methyl groups with phenyl groups. With the introduction of phenyl groups into the polysiloxane, oxidation resistance, thermal stability and shear resistance are enhanced. At elevated temperatures, phenyl-based silicones are more stable and resistant to thermal and oxidizing attack. In addition, refractive index is increased, making them suitable fluids where the RI matches that of optical fibers, allowing for invisible connections and transparent blends.

PM-50 & PM-500 offer a wide operating temperature range.

Use: Clearco PM-50 & PM-500 are Phenylmethylsiloxane-Dimethylsiloxane copolymers CAS [63148-52-7]. They are formulated to have enhanced thermal stability over standard polydimethylsiloxane fluids, which break down at temperatures of 160C open system. PM-50 will remain stable at @250C for 220 to 260 hours (open system). PM-500 will remain stable at @250C for 180 to 200 hours (open system). In closed systems, their stability is significantly higher. Due to its high temperature stability, Clearco PM 125 is recommended for high-temp bath applications and for high temperature heat transfer applications

For baths that require stability at both high and low temperatures, the PM-50 & 500 are excellent fluids. They have pour points of –70C, enabling them to be used as bath fluids for applications ranging from –70șC to 260șC

In addition, Clearco Phenylmethyl Silicones exhibit higher oxidation resistance, greater thermal stability and better shear resistance than standard polydimethylsiloxane silicones. Other applications include: Damping Fluid –High Temperature Bath Fluid –Hydraulic Fluid – Calibrations Fluid, Timing Device Fluid, Heat Transfer Fluid.

PM-50 & PM-500 possesses high dielectric strength, making it very useful as a dielectric coolant, dielectric bath fluid, and high temperature ultrasonic coupler.

Use: Clearco PPM-500 is a 100% Phenylmethylsiloxane CAS [9005-12-3]. It is formulated to have the highest level of thermal stability. PPM-500 will remain stable at @250șC for 1,500 to 2,000 hours (open system). In closed systems, its stability is significantly higher. Due to its high temperature stability, Clearco PPM-500 is recommended for high-temp bath applications and for high temperature heat transfer applications.

Clearco PPM-500 contains 100% phenyl content. It exhibits higher oxidation resistance, greater thermal stability and better shear resistance than lower content phenyl silicones. Other applications include: Damping Fluid –High Temperature Bath Fluid –Hydraulic Fluid, Calibrations Fluid, Timing Device Fluid, Heat Transfer Fluid.
