Description

Description: Low Viscosity Silicone Damping Fluids are clear, colorless, and odorless linear Polydimethylsiloxane fluids / PDMS Silicone Oils (CAS# 63148-62-9) that range in viscosities from 5cSt to 20cSt (centistokes) measured @ 25°C.

They are characterized by their low viscosities (close to water), low pour points, low viscosity‐to‐temperature coefficients (low viscosity increase even at extremely low temperatures), , excellent lubricity, high dielectric strength and inertness.

PSF-Silicone Damping Fluids meet the composition requirements (100% PDMS silicone oil/CAS# 63148-62-9) of federal spec VV-D-1078 Silicone as Damping Fluid. *

They are used in a wide range of military and industrial applications to dampen vibration, dampen pulsation, and dampen torque. Another main application is for use in Flow Control, Temperature Control and Pressure Control Instruments.

Due to their low viscosities and low pour points, Low Viscosity Silicone Damping Fluids are particularly effective for use in instruments and gauges that will operate at extremely low temperatures. They prevent humidity from entering the gauge/instrument housing. This is very important. At low temperatures, water condensation can freeze and cause damage to the sensitive parts within the gauge/instrument housing. As such, Silicone Damping Fluids provide accurate readings even in the harshest/coldest conditions.
