Dielectric Silicone Fluids

Products Description: Clearco offers a full line of Dielectric Silicone Fluids.

STO-50 Silicone Transformer Oil: If you require a silicone fluid for use in a transformer, STO-50 is the choice. STO-50 is a clear, colorless and odorless linear Polydimethylsiloxane fluid (CAS# 63148-62-9) with a viscosity of 50cSt. Unlike conventional fluids, the STO-50 is dehydrated to contain < 50ppm water content to ensurethe highest degree of dielectric strength and thermal stability. It meets IEC 836 specifications for use in a transformer.

Low Temperature Dielectric Silicone Fluids (-80°C to 220°C) are clear, colorless and odorless linear Polydimethylsiloxane fluids that are characterized by their high dielectric strength, low viscosity, low viscosity-to-temperature coefficients (little viscosity change at low temperatures), low pour points, stability @ low temperatures, and compatibility with virtually all surfaces including metal, rubbers and plastics. The PSF-2cSt and PSF-5cSt are widely used in Freeze Drying and heat transfer applications that require a fluid with low viscosity and low pour point.

Wide Temperature Dielectric Silicone Fluids (-50°C to 230°C) are clear, colorless and odorless linear Polydimethylsiloxane fluids (CAS# 63148-62-9). They are characterized by their dielectric strength, high flash points, high thermal stability, high resistance to oxidation, low vapor pressure, and compatibility with virtually all surfaces including metal, rubbers and plastics.

High Temperature Dielectric Silicone Fluids (25°C to 300°C) are clear, colorless and odorless phenyl-class silicone fluids. They are characterized by their high dielectric strength, high flash points, high thermal stability, high resistance to oxidation, low vapor pressure and compatibility with virtually all surfaces including metal, rubbers and plastics.

Why a Silicone Fluid for Dielectric Applications?

When selecting a dielectric fluid, there are a number of criteria that must be met contingent upon the application. One of the strongest advantages that a silicone fluid has over a fluid such as mineral oil is its much higher thermal stability, flash points and fire points. This is critical for fluid used in transformers that are located inside or near to a building where flammability is a significant concern. STO-50 Silicone Transformer Oil can be subjected to very high temperatures, well above normal transformer operating temperatures, without creating excessive vapor pressure, breaking down, or creating corrosive by-products.

STO-50 Silicone Transformer Oil

STO-50 Silicone Transformer Oil is an environmentally safe replacement for PCB containing askarels as the dielectric coolant for liquid-filled transformers. Its high thermal stability makes it a good choice for transformers that are located indoors or next to buildings where a thermally stable fluid is more critical.
